April 5

Today we handed out bags full of school supplies, clothes and other items to all of the school kids. They are so thankful for a little bag full of a few things. Seeing how appreciative they are makes me realize how lucky I am. Many of the kids are orphans and are still the happiest little kids. It makes me so thankful for all of my friends and family that support. Without them I wouldn’t be where I was today and I wouldn’t live the amazing life I live. I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped shape me into the person I am today. I miss all of you and I can’t wait to see you all soon! Thank you Mom, Dad, Lindsey, David, Brandi, Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Jean and everyone else! Rachel Golembiewski

Today was all about fun with the kids. It was just like Christmas for the kids, which was amazing to be a part of. It makes me happy to see how their faces light up. After we handed out the bags all the kids went and opened their bags with their friends. I can’t wait to get back to tell all my friends how great it is here. Hopefully next year I can come again with my friends, so they can see exactly what I am talking about. Be back soon to share memories with everyone. Love you all! Leah Vicini

Today has been one of my favorite days so far. It was all about the kids. We had the honor of passing out a bag full of school supplies, clothes and toys to every child at the school. They were so appreciative of what we gave them. After we gave them these bags we got to play with them. We played with jump ropes, bubbles, Frisbees and we also played soccer. I’ve never seen them happier. It was also amazing to see the joy on these children’s parent’s faces when they saw that their kids were given the things they wish they could provide for them. That made me miss my family a lot and I’m very appreciate of everyone who helped to make this trip possible. Thank you so much I love and miss you all! Also a shout out to my soul mate. I love you and miss you so much and I can’t wait for my stein bro breadsticks when I get back. Katy Miller

This morning I had to manually flush the toilet with a bucket of water. I had to poop but the power isn’t on during the day so I could not flush it normally; it wasn’t as bad as it sounds. Today we visited the school and handed out a bag of clothes, toys, school supplies, etc., to all of the kids. We also got to paint and color with the pre-school kids; we taught them how to draw a bunny. When we got back to the house we got to play with all of the kids. A little boy rapped a song for us in Creole. I could not understand anything he was saying, but it sounded cool. I love this mission trip. I miss Brandi Stein. Val Stacey

Today was all about the kids. We brought gifts to all the kids and helped them paint. The preschoolers were adorable. Our translator is also very funny. His name is Will, he is the man lol. We witnessed a budding creole rapper. I couldn’t understand a word he was saying but he sounded really good. I would also like to give a shout out to my rents. Love Kenz Samualson

Giving the kids the bags today and seeing the looks on the parents’ faces today made me miss home. I miss you mom and dad. Hope you’re doing good in COD, trav. Text Joey for me and tell him I said hi. Miss G., I’m still 2 assignments behind in math. Brandi we all miss you. Sleepover when we get home. We’ll see you all soon! Love Taylor

What an excellent day! The smile of a child who has just gotten a bag full of school supplies and gifts is worth the trip. Joe and I are fine and doing well. Joe loves to be in the middle of whatever is going on and that makes for a happy guy. Building and fixing is his calling and this week he’s in fixit heaven. Much love to all, Kathy & Joe Leeuwenburg

you missed you’re calling… I alway knew you would be a soccer star. I hope you’re having a good time it sounds like you are enjoying your “vacation”. You’re wheels work just fine I’ve been driving all week, I don’t know why you don’t like the “mini van”! We miss you…it’s been quiet! We are proud of you and the whole group that is in Haiti now.

    Taylor,
I sure have had a lot less laundry to do this week:) Poor Travis is bored stiff being home all alone with you gone and his friends in Florida. He won’t admit it but I think he misses you too! The weather here still stinks–very cold and rainy. I’m looking forward to seeing you Saturday. Aunt Kathy wants to “bond” Saturday night when she stays over before our flight the next morning. I’m glad you are all doing so well and enjoying your time. I hope this becomes a life-changing experience for you all. I think you may look at things a bit differently when you come back to your lives here in the USA! Love and miss you! Mom
