Exhausting 12-Hour Day

Maddie Sprite ~  I now understand my mom’s pain when she says how tired she is after working a 12-hour day on her feet!  My back has never hurt worse, but my heart has never felt bigger.  Knowing in the clinic that just by holding someone’s hand and comforting them is helping them feel better makes my world become so much brighter. I fall more and more in love with this place every day.  I am looking forward to what adventure tomorrow will bring.   I miss Mazie too , but I feel these kiddos here are helping fill a little gap in my heart.  O, love you, mom!

Lauren Hathaway ~ We are so slap happy as we wrap up our day! The exhaustion is real, but it was such a joy-filled day.  We girls took turns teaching the smallest children to brush their teeth. It was so cute how about 50 3 and 4 year olds eagerly lined up, so excited to get fluoride painted on their teeth. It was eventful in the clinic as well, and we were busy assisting the dentists and comforting patients.  We didn’t leave until almost 7pm making it almost a 12-hour day on our feet. It’s amazing to be able to watch before my eyes how I am changing someone’s life in that moment.  Ready for what tomorrow brings!

Megan Braun ~  Today could have been one of the longest days for me.  I don’t think I will ever want to work a 12-hour shift because my feet and back are aching. I know I shouldn’t be complaining because these kids are in more pain than me.  I was so happy to help the little kids with learning how to brush their teeth and put on fluoride.  I think this is what I want to do for a real job.  A feeling of helping the kids’ smiles become brighter is something I have never felt before.  I cannot wait to go to bed waiting to be woken up in the middle of the night by barking dogs.  I would rather have Charlie whining by my bed than this.  Other than that, just another great day in Seguin.   We saw the most beautiful sunset I think I have ever seen!
